Our Story
The inaugural Brea 8K Classic began with just 68 participants, and since that modest beginning, it has evolved into a cherished community event. This year, we anticipate welcoming thousands of runners, walkers, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters from across the country.
From its inception, the Brea 8K Classic has embodied a community spirit, emphasizing fun, fitness, and fundraising for the students and programs at Brea Olinda High School. Despite its significant growth, the event continues to be organized by a dedicated team of unpaid parent and community volunteers.
The proceeds from this year’s race will play a crucial role in supporting the high school’s instrumental music program, which fosters creativity, collaboration, and discipline among students. Funds raised will provide essential resources, including musical instruments, sheet music, and educational materials, ensuring that students have access to high-quality music education. Additionally, these funds will help cover costs associated with performances, competitions, and travel, allowing the music program to thrive and showcase the talents of its students at various events.
This single event remains the most impactful fundraiser for our city’s only comprehensive high school, benefiting not only the music program but also enriching the cultural landscape of our community. By participating in the Brea 8K Classic, you are directly contributing to the artistic development and success of our talented young musicians, encouraging a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
