Just 68 people took to the streets in the first Brea 8K Classic. Since our small start, this race has grown into a favorite community event, one which today is expected to draw thousands of runners, walkers, volunteers, sponsors and other supporters from across the country. From its beginning, the Brea 8K Classic was a heartfelt, hometown event that focused on fun, fitness and fund raising for the students and programs of Brea Olinda High School. Today, though much larger, it’s still run by a team of hard-working but entirely unpaid parent and community volunteers.
The proceeds of this year’s race will benefit the students of the award-winning Global IT Academy, academic scholars, instrumental music and color guard, and vocal music programs at Brea Olinda High School. This single event continues to benefit the students of our city’s only comprehensive high school more than any other.
