What is a virtual run/walk?
A virtual run/walk is an event that you can participate in from anywhere. At your own pace, you can run, jog, or walk along a route of your choosing. The Virtual Brea 8K encourages you to show your race pride in stride and post your photos and videos and share your stories via social media using #Brea8K.
The Brea 8K recognizes the importance of physical and mental health during this time. A virtual run/walk provides us the ability to exercise safely while also socially interacting with our community and friends near and far – online. While an in-person event is ideal, online interaction can be a healthy way to reconnect with family and friends and continue to support each other and our community.
When must I complete my run?
For this event, you must complete your 8K between February 1 and February 27.
Do I have to run the traditional Brea 8K course?
Get creative to run this year's Brea 8K. We've seen runners running indoors, in backyards, and other places to make up for this year's canceled races. You have to run 8K, but everything else is up to you. Add long straights or steep hills like the Brea 8K's Heartrate Hill.
How do I create a group/team?
Participants are free to create a group or team and will have the option to during registration. You can join a group or team by searching for the name here.
Is there a mobile app for this year’s event?
Yes! The RaceJoy app will provide a real-time, innovative running experience, that will track your time via GPS. To download the RaceJoy app and view the RaceJoy User Tutorial here.
Is there a specific way to track our time?
The Virtual Brea 8K, like most, is based on the honor system. You may track your time on the RaceJoy app, or another app on your phone, watch, or any fitness device of your choice.
